Problem Note 39390: Using the OUTPUT MANAGER window in SAS® 9.2 TS1M0 might cause loops, unresponsiveness, abnormal endings with U1319, or appearance of stray characters
Starting with SAS® 8, the OUTPUT MANAGER window is obsolete and no longer supported. However, the window still appears if you submit either the MANAGER or MGR command in SAS Display Manager.
Using the OUTPUT MANAGER window in SAS 9.2 TS1M0 might cause the following problems:
- loops
- unresponsiveness
- U1319 abnormal endings
- appearance of stray characters in the display
The cause of the problems is an overlay of internal SAS control blocks. This overlay of storage can result in the failures noted above. These failures might require that the user cancel the SAS session. Note that the U1319 abnormal ending does not occur in SAS 9.2 TS2M0 and later.
The replacement for this window (intended for use in SAS 9.2 TS2M0 only) is the RESULTS window, which appears after submitting the ODSRESULTS command in SAS Display Manager. There are no plans to continue support for the OUTPUT MANAGER window in future releases of SAS.
There are no plans to address this issue with a hot fix for SAS 9.2 TS1M0. However, you can download a special consideration build for SAS 9.2 TS1M0 in the z/OS environment only.
Note: This build should be used only by those sites that have an immediate need for OUTPUT MANAGER window support while converting applications to use the RESULTS window. This replacement window can be used only with SAS 9.2 TS1M0, and with no other revison of SAS.
To determine the release of SAS software on your system, consult the note at the top of the SAS log, which is similar to the following example:
NOTE: SAS (r) Proprietary Software 9.2 (TS1M0)
Click the following link for the special consideration fix:

The sas92c.saszomgr.zip zip file contains two files:
- readme.txt (Instructions)
- sas92c.saszomgr.xmit (the fix)

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
Generating more than one print output and then going to the OUTPUT MANAGER window can fail. Symptoms can be anything from looping or the user session not responding so that it must be canceled.
